lost in translation

Only by a small book cost 10,000 rupiah, I was fully inspired to be translator. Yes, it has been my passion since a very long time, but I don't know yet how to do it commercially. I'm always fond to do translation for charity, help for friends, and mainly for hobby. But this amazing book, showed me how to start to become professional translator. YES....!

It takes just not more than half an hour to finish reading it and I'm eager to jump into translation world. I begin to send application to online agency, ask them whether they need a freelance staff. And guess what? One of the agency, reply my email quickly. They ask me to translate two paragraph into Bahasa and I send them back the result. They seems quite happy to see it. And then, the journey begin. They've been my regular agent for translating document. Any kinds of documents and I learn a lot from those writing.

Payments? Until now, they are a trusted partner. Eventough, I've been paid in rather 'small fee' but I take it as a learning tools. Afterall, I consider this as hobby, and the money only as compliment. Its not so small fee, as it has financed my leisure trip to Bali recently ^_^

One of my first journey as interpreter also begin not so long ago. WBH has a workshop on monitoring and evaluation in cooperation with Caritas Australia. And the visitor from Australia has no Bahasa capacity at all, due to lack of staff, they ask me to assist the visitor in the workshop. Wow...! I rather has no confident to do this at first but all my acquitances said, Go for it! I surely can do my best.  Then, I convinced myself to join these offer. Its been a very impressive experience. I learn many things, meets new people and earn a sum of money. xixixi...

For now, I'm still on long search for better rate but I'm not complaining. What I've been received from the translation is worth more than money. I love to be lost in this unique world.
